About Kaiti

Kaiti Elliott is an Equine Therapist, a photographer, a horsewoman, and a lifelong learner. She is available for equine therapy and bodywork services, photography, mentorship, and teaching and speaking engagements.

Born and raised in the Fraser Valley BC, Kaiti has been horse-crazy since birth and always knew she would pursue a career as a steward of these incredible creatures. Her first horse came into Kaiti’s life as a young teen, and she cared for her “heart horse” Sugar until she passed at the age of 35.

Kaiti has been working in the horse industry since the early 2000s. She has held positions in equestrian retail, stable management, and veterinary assisting at an equine veterinary hospital. As Barn Manager of a large therapeutic riding association for many years, Kaiti discovered how beneficial equine bodywork was for supporting their diverse herd of horses. After beginning her equine manual therapy education in 2014, Kaiti’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion for horses finally led her to put her unique blend of skills and education toward the creation of her own business. This was the beginning of Free to Be Equine Services.

Kaiti holds certifications in Equine Assisted Personal Development, Equine Performance Therapy, Equine Craniosacral Therapy, and Equi-Taping. Kaiti has a thirst for learning, regularly enrolling in continuing education courses and constantly studying the newest findings and research in equine behaviour, welfare, horsemanship, and health care.

Kaiti shares her enthusiasm for equine therapy and education through various teaching and speaking engagements. Eager to support those working within the industry, and to demonstrate the meaning behind one of her favourite quotes (“a rising tide lifts all boats”), Kaiti now offers online mentorship services for those studying or working in the field of equine therapy.

Kaiti views horses through a holistic lens that takes into account all areas of horse care and lifestyle in order to determine the needs of each individual horse. Her methods of bodywork with horses are built upon trust and the horse’s ability to find comfort and safety. Showing them that it is safe to relax and receive intentional, therapeutic touch can greatly enhance the horse’s ability to regulate their emotions and let go of their cycles of stress and tension. Kaiti’s equine therapy sessions and the modalities that she practices utilize her in-depth and consistently growing knowledge of equine anatomy, physiology, behaviour, and the science of movement.

Kaiti has a passion for photography and eagerly seeks creative opportunities. She is pleased to offer equine portrait sessions, lifestyle and elopement photography, and branding for equine professionals. She has professionally photographed weddings, family portraits, horse shows, and even real estate and architecture. With 20 years of experience, Kaiti specializes in photography sessions where she can fully express her talent and style. Find out more about Kaiti’s photography services HERE.

After building a busy practice in the Lower Mainland since 2015, Kaiti has realized a lifelong dream and relocated Free to Be Equine Services to Vancouver Island in spring 2023. Kaiti lives with her husband, their two cats and two Dachshunds in Ladysmith, BC. Eager to grow roots in her new community, Kaiti sits on the board of directors of a local equine related non-profit.
